Chapter 1 of my story Nadia Haven
Nadia Haven, Chapter 1

Part 1

She stood there, holding the basket of flowers…..

How can she take my breath away? We’re not supposed to even think much about Nymphs…. I don’t even know her name! Am I a fool?

“Hans. Hans!! What are you looking at?” Johannan said.

“Uh nothing…..” he said, slightly startled.

Nodding Johannan said “Pathetic aren’t they? Why do they even get to be here? There’s nothing that special about them.”

Perhaps not all are that bad……

“Well come on Hans lets go! We’ll be late for the meeting.”

I can’t believe I forgot about the meeting!

“Okay we better start heading to the Hall.” he said, still thinking of that girl.

Part 2

A few hours later………

I wonder what he was looking at me for. I can’t say I didn’t mind it; just that other Corrivian didn’t seem pleased looking at me. Why is it that everyone doesn’t like anyone else? Corrivians hate Nymphs and Nymphs hate Corrivians. Why are we forbidden to speak to one another? How are we supposed to bring back the peace our ancestors had if we aren’t allowed to speak to each other and understand each other?

“Aiasha…. Aiasha can you help me?”

“Oh! Sorry Opal! I can help you. What do you need help with” Aiasha says slightly embarrassed.

“With these stupid elemental charms mixes! Why do we have to know so many charms? No one really uses them! There’s so many of them in the barn loft!”

Grinning Aiasha says “Don’t call them stupid, Opal. We have to make so many because one day we will need to use them.”

“When will we use them?” Opal asked.

“One day, perhaps soon, perhaps not, we will have to use them.”

“Why would we use them? And how can we use them?” Opal asked slyly.

“We would use them to protect. One day, the elemental guardians will need to protect themselves. When they do that, our protection, which they bestow upon us, will be lowered, giving the demons a chance to enter our world. We will use them to make our own protection. But don’t be startled, that’s why we have so many extra charms.” Aiasha says reassuring.

“How do you know all that?”

“Well some of us have the power to speak directly to the Elemental Guardians. I have that ability, as do some of the older people in our village. The Guardians have foreseen these events, and told us how we can protect ourselves. Hopefully these events, known as ‘Nadia Valor’ will not come true. At least not yet.......”

“Why do you say that, Aiasha?”

“Because we don’t have enough yet to protect our entire world, there is enough to protect our little village though.”

Opals eyes widened and she says “I’m going to work even more to make enough for everyone!”

“That’s nice of you to say that. But don’t forget, you're still a child, so have fun too. And don’t worry yourself about it. We'll make it through that time when it comes.”

I pray that that moment does not come until us, the Nymphs and the Corrivians find peace. I see no hope of survival without peace between us. I hope that the new king will see this as well. I'd better get ready for that meeting!

Part 3

“This is an outrage! You want to restrict the Nymphs just because they are different? How is that morally a decision to make? Was it not the Nymphs and Corrivians who formed this kingdom?”

“If I didn’t know better, are you siding with the Nymphs? Those weaklings are doing us no good!”

“Silence, Hallart, Fandor, if we are going to be dealing with a matter as important as this we must be cool headed and fair. Where are the representatives of the Nymphs?” says King Thomax with an air of authority.

Entering, the servant says “My lord, they're here now.”

King Thomax, clearly losing his temper asks “Why weren’t they sent in?”

Staring at his feet the servant says “Sir Fandor’s son told us not the send them in yet, my lord.”

“I see, well allow them to come in after a few moments, Fandor we'll speak of this later.”

“Yes, my lord” bowing the servant leaves.

Fandor’s sons are clearly not going to be comfortable near the Court for some time. Serves them right! How could Johannan do that and not expect any consequences about those actions he took? The Nymphs have schedules as well. They are the ones preparing for ‘Nadia Valor'. Why doesn't anyone give them any credit?

“Sir Hallart, how has the progress in the village come along?”

Feeling slightly odd, Hans says “Nearly all of the barn lofts were full of the elemental charms we will need to depend on.” That girl seemed so peaceful, yet so knowing of the events coming soon… “I’m also pleased to announce that the stock is up as well.”

Scratching his chin, King Thomax says “Nice to hear that things are going well in the village.”

Then the servant enters the room with an elderly man, and a young woman following after him. Clearly being the representatives of the Nymphs, and father & daughter.

‘That girl, she’s the representative’s daughter! Now I should learn what her name is!’ thought Hans happily.
