This is about a past relationship.
Younger Skin

Retracing footsteps is a game,
Who’ll be the first to stay the same?
I walk in skin no longer mine
Sagging, grown too loose with time.
Mockingly, she echoes me,
More confident, pretty, thin.
I’m lost inside a lost girl’s skin.

You draw me in.
Retracing feeling, we sketch our way.
The trees in a quiet place
Marked by decay.
We are the same
We are the same
Don’t ever ever say I changed.

I slip on this dress
The one I wore the day we met
Now tight round belly and breasts.
I won’t dance for you tonight,
Won’t show my cleavage,
Bare my thighs
I know I’ve faded in your eyes.

Strange, this time
I’m the one to compromise.
Through the forest, you draw me in,
I’m lost within
My younger skin.
