This is about someone who has buried their lover and doesn't want to share the moment.
what compensation is there?
they dug out your heart
to shovel in on top of her,
you lie above her
listening for a stilled pulse.

what sentiments can express
what needs to be said?
people feel a need to confess
some experience past
involving the person dead,
how long must this farce last?
