An account from war.
These skeletons keep marching around inside my closet and it causes me much dissatisfaction. the ghost's will not let me be. They are contantly reminding me of the horrible acts I committed during my 15 month trek through the valley of the shadow of death. I still the echoes of gunshots and the Plink plink of lead penetrating metal. The explosions of incoming, the foggy smoke, the screams of pain followed by more deafening explosions. then the wretched silence. Once the smoke clears I see the faces of such strong men, my brethren, countrymen, lying in their own blood, panic stuck on their faces, the look in theirs eyes. They say in battle when you take a life a part of your own life is taked as well, the parts of me that are dead are missed. Night after night these demons return, whispering in my ear "Some things are unforgivable, and unforgettable." With their words come a frozen breeze...I am haunted. -KMH
