"Through The Windowpane"

Where Lions Walk

In lands they call "Dark Continent",
where the Lions walk so proud;
They come here everyday to drink
with snarls, ferocious and loud.

We watch them as they growl and play
these predators of the pride.
Out of Africa's windswept prairies
their pictures taken as we hide.

In summer's heat and swaying grass,
lay dreams that Kipling saw.
Where the golden maned warriors rule
with a roar and a paw.

They are the lords of all the jungle
monarchs of all the beasts.
Those in tune with nature's decree,
the host of the Lion's feast

We fear the power of the Lions
looking deep into their eyes.
You don't have to walk among them
to respect their grace and size.

We will travel on to Timbuktu
from this grassy, golden plain.
On a distant journey to Kathmandu
for we've seen the Lion's mane.
