To Jake...
For more than a year
He was my best friend
But unfortunately
Most good things end

We trusted each other
He believed in me, too
I never questioned
What he said he knew

There was laughter and sadness
We went through it all
I never saw it coming
Those days are gone

The news hit me
Like a thousand knives
I blamed God
For taking his life

It’s been five months
Since I lost my best friend
There’s a cut in my heart
That can never mend

I hate to say it
But it’s come to an end
I now live a life
Without my best friend

As time went by
I realized the truth
He wasn’t gone forever
I would see him soon

I still miss him
I still cry
But he’s watching from above
So I wipe my eyes dry

We trusted each other
He believed in me, too
He’d want me to be out there
Making my dreams come true

His lame jokes
Those stupid smiles
To see it again
I’d walk a thousand miles

His name was Jake
Though, it’s not the end
Jake, I love you
You’re my best friend.
