Everybody who has ever been burnt by somebody they loved will understand.
Shuffling madness, tormented thoughtless ramblings of a dying age.
Scraping boots on dry pavement, heat beats upon weary heads.
Cracked and dry fingers grasp for ropes that don't exist.
Brown twisted trees sag and bow to pressure unseen.
Meandering trails lead into blank hills, burning eyes can't see the skyline.
Bare walls stare back unblinking, white washed sidewalks reflect misery in the eyes.
Careless, unwanting fantasies float about in my mind, fantasies that don't harbor pain, resentment, regret.
