something i wrote when someone close to me passed away
The ambulance sirens echo down the steet
and we are left stranded.
Our eyes leave pools of crystalline grief and
our hearts pray that he makes it through.

Now our mournful faces look down
on a man who was young at heart
and full of spontaneity,
we look hopelessly around,
but there was nothing we could do.

the doctors search for the face
of the widowed woman.
They say they regret not being able to save him
and that they did the best they could.
he was like a grandfather to me.

Now all i have to do it look up
and i see him.
circling around in their autumn waltz,
just like they did at their wedding.
Not willing to let go,
she resolves to let him live again.
