My walk home from work.I know some of it may not rhyme, that was intended.
The sun now awake in the early morning sky
makes me happy that my work hours past so quickly by.
I decided to walk, instead of ride
to take in the show of the early morning sky.
Traffic picking up, I take it in stride
better start running or the intersection I'll never get by.
On the road, near the curb
the body of a little dead bird.
Birdie birdie, how did you die?
Was it from the tire of a car passing by?
A break in traffic, things quiting down
I could hear the wind, the birds and all other morning sounds.
I stopped for a moment to take it all in
when a truck passed by, a bus, and a van.
It's all good I said, as I pressed on
Continuing my walk; my little journey home.
The warm morning breeze caressing my chin
I crossed the street to see the lake behind where I'd been.
It's surface like glass, and rings made from fish
there starting to stir, they'll make a nice dish.
Not really though, I don't eat much fish
just needed a rhyme to help finish this.
It really was a nice walk home
The weather was great, the sun warming to the bone.
I finally arrived after my 20 minute hike
I should do it again, maybe next time with a bike.
This poem is corny, yes, but at least it's not blue
All of these things were actually true.
I still wonder though, about the bird
Did he make a bad call when jumping the curb?
Did he die from flu, shit; I hope not
I feel a cough coming on, I should get a shot.
Enough of that, I'll leave you with this
Take a walk in the morning or so much you'll miss.
Watch the sun make it's early morning climb
listen to the sounds that will echo in your mind.
Hear the wind, feel the breeze
unless you live in the city in which case, well your pretty much screwed.
