There's always someone out there in a different position than you.
There's always someone worse off
Than I know I'll ever be in this world.
There's always someone laughing
When I feel I'm pain's leading role.
How do you describe an act,
When you can't describe the circumstance?
How do you take control when
Your heart is in another's hands?
There's always someone who can raise
Their voice louder than I'll ever scream.
There's always someone who will feel
More pain than I know I'll ever see.
Will science someday lead me to find
That I'll die at forty-five?
Will religion someday lead me to find
That faith isn't a waste of time?
Is it selfish to ask if I can have my
Cake and possibly eat it too?
Is it rebellious if I challenge the thoughts
That people all thought they knew?
I'll breathe the air that's free for now
And live each day like there's nothing to spare,
Because I know there's always someone else
Who wishes they had thought to care.
