A poem of betrayal and broken trust.
A step through the door,
then a gasp through the air,
"What happened? What happened?"
But I didn't care.
At least not until she started to share,
"My father he beat me."
My heart jumped through the air.
Shock, amazement, sadness that swelled.

As one can imagine it didn't take long,
the chains of friendship strengthed their bonds.
Houses flew open,
Keys rang out,
the signs of support were strung all about.

But that was the trouble,
someone called CPS,
and the plans of her saving,
they were foiled at last.
We all looked at her,
"What's happening next?"
"I lied to ya'll. Sike! I fell off my bike."

Little lies,
Little lies,
oh how they hurt,
they soiled my trust,
and her reputation in dirt.
