"Through The Windowpane"

Expecting Rain

Sitting on a wooden bench
waiting for the train.
Wishing it was cooler now,
expecting it to rain.

Saw an old man walking by
with a crooked cane.
Sweating in the summer sun
starting to complain.

Then there were the ants I saw
crawling from a drain.
See them marching single file
a tiny insect chain.

It's so hot it cracks the ground
like a broken pane.
Someone's always left behind,
waiting for the train.
