It's a Meditation.
The Clear and Open Sea
By: Ryan L. Lawrence

Our lovemaking was like a whirl wind bowing far off from a distant shore; drawing in all around us without exception or mercy.

Volatile as the unwavering winds that filled our sails and unbridled by the demands of the world around us was our passion, our love, and our appetite for each other.

That’s why its only home was the open sea.

Embracing in its isolation and welcoming, even in its rage, the open sea was a home for us where the pain of our pasts died and our future was something seen on the horizon.

I may never know where my love disappeared to.

Even the course of soul mates are at the mercy of the changes in the wind.

But in my heart I know that it’s better to love so deeply for brief moment in time, like the flicker of a candle blowing in the wind, then a life time never knowing such joy nor the pain of such loss.

Because even if I search all the waters of the world and find nothing I still have things that most men only dream of.

The memory of smile, of a soft face. Something that I can look back on like a pleasant dream known only to me.

A closet that's always full of memories, treasured parts of my past that leave no room for regret.

Also a simple gold ring; just a symbol of a poor man’s promise and a reason to dream, to hope for the impossible, to make love to a memory, and to forever sail on.

Throwing myself to the mercy of fate in hopes of finding my soul mate somewhere beyond the horizon of each new dawn; a precious gift that the sea, the great Caribbean, has given me that can't be equaled.
