The necessary journey of the desperately willing
They come in troubled and tired
Eyes averted and full of tears
Arrogant, yet ashamed
Deaf and unapproachable
Clenched fists, wrinkled clothes
In search of a reason, a word, a clinical loophole
A cure to solve their problems for a bit.

They come in broken and beaten
Eyes glazed and jaundiced
Defeated yet defiant
In rage and in tears
Trembling hands, sagging clothes
In search of a reason, a word, a suspect glance
An excuse to leave the staring eyes in the room full of losers

They come in babbling and delusional
Eyes vacant, teeth missing
Desperate, despondent
Riddled with misery
Abscessed arms and soiled clothes
In search of a reason, a word, an outstreched hand
Affirmation not to run and die alone
