Whisper songs to me Sauchious...
Bring my soul to your shores and cast me far from this place
Once more to see your colors, the beauty and the grace................
A bit of poetry that played around in her mind. Far better thoughts than the replay of the night now blessedly over. Poor Mr. Edmonds, the mind there and the body gone, the crying family, the longing to let go, the shut down of the ventilator......that had been her job. To turn it off. Of course it was all arranged properly, the request of the patient and his family, the Doctor's order, minister at the bedside but still it felt all so wrong to simply shut down the machine and watch someone die. Morphine! Hurrah for the morphine! It was somewhat comforting to know he wasn't conscience when all this took place, that certainly would not have been bearable. The time passes as time always does and then to home, alone as always, not relly wanting the company of others. Many friends at hand but home was the sanctuary and few were ever granted entrance.
Bed felt great. The cool sheets, the soft comforter all seemed to welcome her to a safe and comforting place. She had taken her blood pressure medication and pain reliever with a sleep aid......the only way she seemed to be able to calm the restless mind that wound around the thoughts that just wouldn't slumber so the rest of her could. Sleep came.
The dreams came. The last time she had been about 16 or 17. The swelling mists, clouds of color lifting to reveal sights not seen by any, not here anyway. And the voice. The calm reassuring voice that spoke gently at first, not wanting to frighten her awake, a sound not heard for many years but remembered all the same.
A truely masculine voice with a hint of strength, caressing and intimate, sending tingles through her sleeping body......
Jenna, I have missed you.

She awoke that afternoon feeling a bit dazed even after the second cup of hot sweetened tea, almost a surreal, drugged feeling. Jen tried to shake it off but even the hot shower didn't help alot. Great! Fast running out of time to make it back to The Hell Hole which was her personal title for her place of employment. At least it paid the rent. A quick stop at the gas station to pick up a pop, cigarettes and a couple of hot dogs and the last five minites to get to the time clock passed rapidly. She pondered the old saying of how time flies but she sure knew that she wasn't having fun! Work began after a brief report on her patients current conditions, treatment, etc. which helped her not to think of the dreams, so comfoting and frightning all the same. It had been so long. So long since that voice had filled her thoughts
Issakiah, I have missed you too...........
