In year 8 we had to write a poem that had a moral to it; this is mine.
Mel's Punishment

There was a child called Mel,
Who was a very naughty girl.
But this all changed one day,
When she met a stranger called Jay.

This day, unlike another,
Happened in a place called Dover;
After her mother had told her
Never talk to strangers.

She had just came out of school,
Holding under her arm a ball,
When she saw a big yellow car
And Jay holding a chocolate bar.

It was unknown to her his name,
So she asked him as she came.
Jay replied, ‘My name is Jay,
Can I give you a life home today?’’

Mel said with a smile on her face,
‘Great, as long as you don’t race.’
Now I know and I’m sure you do too
That this was a silly thing to do;

For unknown to naughty Mel,
Even though she could not tell,
Soon she realized with a great moan,
Jay wasn’t taking her home.

‘’Where are you taking me?’ Mel said,
Just as she went and banged her head.
‘’I’m taking you to my wife,
Who is waiting with a knife.’’
Said Jay, who looked very flamed.
‘’A knife!’’ naughty Mel exclaimed.
‘’Yes,’’ said Jay,’ So she can kill you.’’
‘’Mummy warned me of this too,

She said never talk to strangers,
And remember all the dangers.
Mel tried to open the car door,
But then realized with a great roar,

The yellow car was safety locked,
Just like a boat that wasn’t docked.
Suddenly the car came to a stop,
And Mel got out with a hop.

Mel ran like the wind to escape;
The blue coat looking like a cape.
She ran across the narrow road,
When the car that was gold,

And drove by a man called Ned
Knocked her down and pronounced her dead.
Now fancy seeing that,
A young girl being squashed flat,

And think about the parents
Whose reactions were faint.
The parents didn’t care about Mel,
For they knew she had been a bad girl;

Mel deserved what she got,
Ever since she had been in a cot.
So remember all the dangers,
When you talk to strangers.
