For dwellers of the past
Speak of yesterdays no more
The past is dead, so close the door
Drop it and begin anew
What else is there left to do?
Speak of yesterdays gone by
There are no answers, let it die
You can’t be at your best
If the past isn’t laid to rest
Speak of yesterdays no more
The past like some infectious sore
Like an eagle spread your wings
To the present and the happiness it brings
Speak of yesterdays if you will
The past like some bitter pill
Open your eyes to what is now
Bring yourself to the present somehow
Speak of yesterdays no more
It’s the present you should be searching for
Don’t bring others down by a past long dead
In your heart let contentment and happiness spread
