I see them every day
Bitter cold.
They wait in the parks and squares.
Stamping feet and swinging arms.
Watching and waiting.
A truck drives by.
The group surges forward hopefully.
Desperate for a day's work.
But the truck rattles on past.
And again the men square off, ragged boots ready.
Just in case.
Bitter. Cold.
