Must have been a bad day!
Darkness overwhelms me like a black hole,
Never leaving, I feel like I fell and am
Suffocating for an eternity,
I cant make it stop.
Cruel words like the lash of a whip on my back,
Filthy looks like nails piercing my flesh.
Consequences trapping me tight.
No air to breath, no life to live,
No sun to light endless dark despair.
Deep in the ground, suppressed thoughts move and grumble,
Slowly seeking a way out.
Would it be so bad if they could escape?
Fear restricts breathing,
Festering truth stays entombed,
Feelings remain frozen in time.
Maybe one day I’ll open that box.
Death speaks to me, whispers like an old friend.
How does it know me so well?
I don’t remember welcoming it willingly.
Tender hopes evaporate, wild dreams set alight,
Never to be heard, certainly not fulfilled,
It never ends, hunting me always,
Waiting for me to fall to my knees in surrender.
But I wont fall, I wont bow,
I’ll stand, always stand,
Even when shame engulfs me and makes me it’s slave.
Cant shake of the chains no matter what I try.
The burdens weigh me down like an anchor,
Pain drags me under a sea of confusion.
There is a light in the distance,
I’ll have to travel through hell to get there,
But I’ll get there.
Chains and all.
