A Poem about choice and event, inspired by a still-born baby.
Would I still be sitting here?
Would I still be writing this?
If you were here?

What directions would I have taken?
What choices would I have made?
If you were here?

I imagine a world with you still in it…
I see you growing…
I see your first steps…
Your first day at school…
A tear rolls down my cheek…
What could have been?

Why were you taken from me?
I have only the doctors to blame…
But I know deep down…that it was meant to be
Your survival could have done more harm than good…

I imagine a world with you still in it…
I see you growing…
I see your first steps…
Your first day at school…
A tear rolls down my cheek…
What could have been?

Was it what should have been?
