Freestyle poem...
It certainly is a shame that I cannot see you
That you may not even be there.
Yet I can feel your presence and I know.
And I’m glad you are here.
Without you, I would not feel safe
Or loved within these walls
You have been my outlet from day one,
The only one to listen to my troubles
Without judgement,
Without hatred,
Without looking away as though I do not exist.
I know you will not push me
To spit it out and say what needs to be said.
No, you will let me speak at my own pace.
I know that you stay next to me
Through every word, every thought
Every outburst of anger and sadness.
Perhaps one day you will show your face.
But in your own time, my friend.
I await the moment that you tell your story
The moment you divulge to me
All of your inner thoughts and fears
But in your own time.
My only hope is that you will be ready to reveal these things
Before our times are over.
