dancing away ones inhibitions
I feel them upon me
and cower in fear.
Cold stares
from a multitude
of silver spectral eyes
peer through me,
prying into my deepest
darkest secrets,
even those I keep
from myself.
Hidden desires
are brought to the surface
and I am forced to confront
that which I would rather forget.
Primal urges,
those hidden deep inside,
come rushing out
and I am brought to a frenzy.
My mind is no longer my own
and my body moves about
some distorted dance
in praise
to any god
that may be looking down at me.

I feel nights eyes upon me
watching me,
caressing me
and I feel possessed
yet comforted.

...and in the dawn
before the rising sun
I am left
an empty shadow
of my former self,
a discarded vessel
no longer needed
or wanted...
