Moo and ANOTHER Black Cat!

Moo (if you reat "Moo and the Two Black Cats") is an old Poodle-mix who raises kittens for me. I recently got a new kitten, a little boy, who I named "Boscoe."

My sister's cats had kittens and I fell in love with an unusually-marked one. I told her, "I want this one--boy or girl--and if it's a little boy, I'm naming him Boscoe." Since he was the only one with a name they all came to her when she did the "Kitty, kitty. Here, Boscoe" thing--and they thought they were ALL Boscoes! (when they fought, as kittens do, we called it "the Boscoe Wars) I brought him home when he was old enough. My two big black cats weren't happy with another cat, but my dog fell in love with him and protected him.

Moo doesn't "woof woof" like most dogs; she does the "roff roff" thing instead. Boscoe is now almost 5 months old and they are still buddies. She has her own blanket that stays in the recliner and she sleeps on it. It's directly in front of the air conditioner and she shares it with only one cat. You guessed it! Boscoe

My two big black cats are awesome at catching birds, mice, rats, rabbits--you name it; and, they've decided that Boscoe has s-o-m-e promise and they started teaching him to hunt. Fifi catches flies; she taught him to catch grasshoppers. I watched and laughed almost an hour as they jumped in the air, twirled around, looked disgusted at their lack of success, then tried everything again. The first grasshopper she caught, she gave to him. The next one, she decided to try for herself. I guess her dog senses weren't prepared for the taste sensations because she spat it out. Boscoe thought she'd given it to him. He grabbed it, pranced around, growled at imaginary enemies who would take his "catch" and totally embarrassed The Moo.

When she's mad she storms stiff-legged across the yard or floor. She also holds a grudge. She immediately came inside and left that rotten cat outside. He came in later and hopped up in the chair with her. She "roff'ed roff'ed" at him and ran him off her blanket (known affectionately as "the stinky") and out of the chair. He forgives quickly, though, and tried again a hour or so later. No luck! "Not on MY stinky!" was The Moo's reaction, and she kicked him off the chair again.

When the big black cats growl at him, she "roff' roff's" at them to remind them that he is hers, but she still hasn't let him back on the stinky.

Way to go, Moo!
