A poem that I wrote about my friend, who took his life after his girlfriend died.
His eyes so expressive

No hider of emotions

His despair at the sight

Of the failed love potion

How could he be so brave

To let this love, take him to the grave

The brave soldier

Who only ever fought and only ever sought

The love of one other.

The posters on the wall

A last protest against deception

Against the world, against rejection

The knife plunged through the heart

He bleeds until tomorrow becomes today

And finally everything fades away

His one and only

Lost into the sky

Maybe now she can finally fly.

The wings she held

So withered and broken

Yet as she made her way towards heaven

She glided freely and left the boy a token

One to last forever more

A single blood red rose

As her course was finally set

The boy found his pillow wet

From the tears that had poured from those deep brown eyes

He found in his hand a single rose

True love never dies.

His heart so broken and dented

This was to be his final sentence

So he spoke her name one final time

He was to die on the twelfth chime

So he fastened the rope to the tree

Now he would be forever free.
