friend's sister addiction

You’ve been down this path before.
Always wondering if there’ll be more.
More pain.
More sorrow.
More let-downs.

It’s hard to watch your loved ones fall.
Harder still to hear it all.
Deep inside’s that little girl.
Who loves life.
Who loves family.

Yet she feels heavy. The burden is too great.
Your family tries to bear that weight.
But your arms are getting tired.
Your resolve is growing thin.

You’re wondering “when is this going to change?”

When your sister says it is.
When the tough is too tough.
When she’s crumpled in a heap.
When the little girl inside finally cries out “Help Me.”

And indeed you will.
As you always have.
Hoping this time will be different.
Knowing someday it will.

For now, your love remains true.
And that, my friend, will help get her through.
