An old military graveyard.
I wandered through a graveyard,
Where many soldiers lay,
I gazed upon the headstones,
With great sorrow and dismay.

Many who fought in battles,
Lost their lives, for you and me,
The graves are now forgotten,
There's not a flower left to see.

Nary a flag waved in honor,
that grand red, white and blue,
The soldiers who fought our battles,
They loved that old flag too.

I cry for the soldiers who rest there,
Those brave souls from the past,
Medals placed upon their chest.
Seems their glory didn't last

When I visit again this graveyard,
I will tip my hat to the mound,
I can almost hear the bugler
Playing Taps, that lonely sound.

I shed tears for the brave men,
For the women I do the same,
For soldiers now in harms way
Who may return bruised or lame.

I bowed my head in reverence,
I whispered a humble prayer,
I asked God to protect those fighting,
And bless the heroes lying there.
