The story of an angel who falls in love.
Once upon a time there lived a beautiful girl named Angel. Angel lived in Heaven and was very happy. One day as Angel was walking along the streets of gold she happened to look down upon the earth. Her eyes lit upon the most beautiful creature she had ever seen. Surely this divine being belonged in Heaven. Each day she came to sit and watch him, wondering why he lived on earth with mortal men. She asked her fellow angels why this man wasn't among the rest of the angels where he surely belonged. They told her that he was just a man not an angel at all. In stunned disbelief she turned to the others and asked, "How can this be, such perfection surely belongs in the Kindom of Heaven"
The other angels looked at her with sadness in their eyes. "You've fallen in love with him!," one exlaimed sorrowfully.
Angel ponders this. "Love?" Smiling she says," Of course I love him, I love all of mankind."
The oldest of the angels steps forward. "This love we speak of is not the love given to all, but the love given to one."
Frowning at Jacob she asks, "What is the difference?"
"Well," Jacob responds, "what do you feel when you look upon him?"
Turning back to look down on the man once more she considers the question and smiles softly, "I feel as if all the stars the Father has placed in the sky should be bowing before him in praise of his beauty." Then with sudden tears in her eyes and sadness in her voice she continues, "I also feel untold grief knowing that I cannot touch him...nor feel his touch."
Jacob smiles sadly down upon her saying, "Now what do you feel when you look upon everyone else the Creator has forged."
"I feel....happy." Tilting her head in thought, "I feel like giving the world a hug and a smile letting them know that they are not alone."
Smiling sadly Jacob replies, "Now do you see the difference between the love of mankind and the love for just one man?"
Nodding slowly, "Yes,yes I do." Looking up at Jacob in distress, "But what am I supposed to do now?"
Pulling her into his arms he says, "I can't tell you what to do, child" Holding her tightly he gazes off into the distance with sorrowful eyes. "This decision is yours and yours alone."
Clinging to him tightly she cries as if her very soul is being torn asunder. A few moments later with her decision made she pulls back and squares her shoulders in resolution. She gazes around at her home and her brothers and sisters who have shared it with her one last time. With tears streaming down her cheeks she hugs each of her fellow angels, "Please know that I do not take this step lightly." Turning she heads to the edge of Heaven where the two worlds coincide. Holding her arms out she leans forward..
"Please stop and consider that he may not love you in return!", Jacob calls to her. "What will you do then? You'll be alone in a world where you know no one, never allowed to return here."
Looking over her shoulder smiling, she replies, "Just to have him know I exist is enough." With that being said she falls forward into the clouds, barely hearing the wails of every angel in Heaven weeping over their lost sibling. After falling for what seems like an eternity her mind shut down and she knew no more.
"Wake up!" She hears someone say, "Heh,you alright?"
She feels someone poking her insistently. Blearily she opens her eyes and finds herself gazing into the most beautiful pair of dark brown eyes she has ever seen. She blinks and smiles, "Hello"
"Hey." He says, smiling back, "I asked if you were alright?"
"Yes,yes I am....now." She just stares at him smiling, happy without really knowing why.
He looks around. "How did you get to be out here?" He asks her, still smiling.
"Uh.." Turning her head back and forth looking at the unfamiliar area. "I have no idea."
          "So,um..what's your name?"
"My name?" Her brows draw together in concentration. "I..I..I don't know," She looks at him frantically. "I don't know what my name is!"
"Heh, calm down, it's alright," He lays a hand against her cheek. "I'll call you Angel, since it seems you just fell out of the sky and all."
"Angel," She muses. "Yes, call me Angel." The name seems oddly familiar giving her a sense of comfort.
Smiling he picks her up in his arms. "Well, since you don't know who you are or where you are..I think I'll just take you home with me."
Holding onto him tightly she nods her head. "Okay, that's fine by me."
He starts walking home with his very own angel in his arms thinking he'll never let her go.
