Darkening with a little religion

In the end we all die,
For a lesson has been learned,
For we have sinned,
And have paid the cost,

Flash the flood, bring forth the lightning,
Take me away from this world at once,
For I have sinned,
And now must pay the cost,

Slit the wrist, slash the throat,
For I wish to leave, let me die,
For I have sinned,
And want to pay the cost,

Heart is blank, never filled,
As I pull the trigger,
For I have died,
And have paid the cost
