A poem for all my distant friends. The estranged ones.

I walk along this road,
and it looks so familiar.
But I feel like such a foreigner.

I'm not sure who you are.
This person I feel so drawn to.
I feel like I should know you....

Who are you, Strange One?
You have a picture of me,
and it's hanging on your wall.

I opened a door to you,
Distant One. For I thought,
Maybe you could tell me...

how do I know you?
Why do I think
I should feel at home?

And why do I not?
Oh friend, dear
Unapproachable,

I have given up
my last hope
of finding out

Who you really are.
