Running out of gas in the middle of nowhere. A drabble written on a whim.
driving around for the sake of wasting gas, wasting time, wasting life..
that was the night i truly learned what it means to be alive.
listening to conor oberst sing his bittersweet melodies,
and tying every one to you.

do you know what it's like to find yourself in the middle of a forgotten countryside,
watching the needle of the gauge sinking lower and lower,
and knowing that it is truly the last thing you care about?
as if the gas was my last chance for sanity and i saw it slowly slip away,
and gave no further thought to it.

no further thought was given to anything, really,
as the car slowly glided to a halt on the side of the road and i stepped out into the fresh air.
where had i gotten myself to?
wherever i was was better than where i had been.
the air was cleaner and the sky was clear.
and there was no you.
