The Leopards Kill

By Tia S.

There are many animals out on the night,

But two in particular are about to fight,

One is a sleek leopard who's on the prowl,

The other she is hunting, a big fat owl,

She hears a rustle of a wing,

Who who who, the owl begins to sing,

She hunkers down but the owl is off,

She chases after while others scoff,

On she chases but so very silent,

Maybe this kill will not be very violent,

The leoard is gaining,

But the poor owl is straining,

The owl is weak and stops for a rest,

He has reached a tree top nest,

The nest is so high in the tree,

That the owl thinks that she will flee,

But this cat is hungry and ready to eat,

She will not just accept defeat,

The smallest of Big Cats has skill,

And her heart beat quickens as she goes for the kill,

This wild cat has happy eyes,

She has prevailed and enjoys her prize.
