Is loneliness the human condition?
Solitary,
Stretching to the heavens,
Piercing the mist,
Above the ground.
Above the others.
Alone.

Cries echoe
Across the pale peaks.
Calls beat
Granite and shale,
Begging to be heard.
But no one else is there.

Crafted by the hands of God,
Birthed to a blank
Misbegotten plain.
No plan
Made beforehand,
Just empty sky.

Standing for millenia,
An object to others,
And an objector to all.
Stared into
And staring back.
Watching and desiring.

Eroding,
Disappearing into dust,
Fading away.
Coming into the world
And leaving
Alone.
