MY BEST FRIEND GROWING UP IN KENTUCKY, MY DOG
You required so little, yet gave so much
Always without question or complaint
Happy to be alive, with your family
And never too tired for a friend
You didn't judge, loyalty was free
All the things a friend should be

Years pass as memories fade away
Since you lost your life that awful day
But I will never forget my hero and friend
As your spirit flys free across the heavens
For all my life, I will think of you
But know that God needs good friends too

I await the day til we meet again
With dreams of a day gone by
A soft wind blows the leaves of Autumn
And the streams run clear and deep
As forever I wander the hills of my mind
With my patient friend right behind
