When it comes to the game of love, there is no second place prizes.
You’ve asked me to hold my breath.
I suppose that this is a test.
But I’ll make it clear,
                             there’s nothing to fear.
My heart’s been engraved with your name.

And still I’m ranked second place
in this race to win your affections.
My offer isn’t what you need,
                             so it seems.
Not just from me do you seek attention.

But, what right do I have to complain?
I wasn’t forced to participate in this game.
The price I pay for giving my heart away
is now more than I bargained for.

It’s not like I can turn my back
and still remain fully intact.
I’ve traveled too far,
                             working too hard
to relinquish what I have fought for.
