What is being "in love"?
“IN LOVE”

The time passes like a knife.
Sweat pours lightly from my torn hands
My heart aches for the one thing I feel I can not have
No matter how much I may yearn.

I’m a lowly man on a very high totem pole
I’ve been through a lot but the most of it
As it turns out
Has been my own doing.

I’d like to think there is still time for me.
I’d like to think all that trying to be liked was not for nought
But the more I look at it the more I see
That I was kidding myself the more I did stupid things.

Who knows
Maybe all these women I’ve been with
Have just previews
For what is to become

And maybe now that I’d had the rest
Its time for the best
It’s time to see how I did things
And know how I am not doing things

I hungered for immortality
I longed for companionship
I wanted someone to like me
But now its not so much about needing

As it is Just about things being the way they are
And it being ok for things to be that way
I understand love
I just don’t understand “in love”.
