Thoughts and feelings regarding the passing of a life.
What does one say about a life?
He had a smile like sunshine,
an inner strength of a thousand suns.
He touched so many
in such a short time.

Strong of heart, weak of body.
These are the members of the newly born.

Eyes wide, almost alien,
but so very human;
Such ancient knowledge held within.
Tiny hands, fingers and toes.
Tiny hands, big hearts.

These are the members of the newly born.

Born too soon.
Born so broken.
A warrior poet is he,
this member of the newly born.

So eager, so feisty.
This one had his schedule to keep,
a date with his parents,
a date with fate.

He is the center of all.
He is the whirlwind.
Did he know?
This member of the newly born.

How does one cope?
How does one console?
How does one comfort,
the hearts of the lost?

Fate brought him to us,
Our hearts kept us near.

Fate giveth.
Fate taketh away.
This member of the newly born.
