Be careful who you trust.
Watch the wall flake
away, swirling down
like feathers in the wind
to settle on the bottom
of a smooth-sided

Chasm.

Adrenaline rises.
Water rises.
The gate breaks
as breathing begins to shake
and teeth struggle with each other
to keep close.
And still, those bitter words
wrench themselves free
and sharply fly unapologetic,
to the ears of their killer.

Undone.
Unraveled.
Just open the doors
and say you'll be there
when I make the world
bloom.
