Murphy's Law-- If It Can Go Wrong, It Will
Murphy’s Law
By Penny Hoprich

Murphy and I are tight. We go together like pancakes and syrup. We're like peanut butter and jelly.

Everywhere I go, there's Murphy right by my side, whispering in my ear, "If it can go wrong, it will."

I use to be one of those folks who could never remember to take the keys out of the car before locking the door.

When I worked for a Chiropractor who was an absolute perfectionist (Murphy loves those perfectionists), at least once a week, when I'd start to leave for work, I'd get to the car and realize I had locked my keys up in it.

This one time in particular, I remember rushing out to the car, grabbing the door handle, and guess what. Yep, the door was locked, and the keys were in the ignition. As I slowly walked back into the office, one of my co-workers started laughing. She said, "I'll call my dad, he has a tool to get the door open."

Not wanting my boss to know I had made another mistake, I eased back out to the parking lot. I was mentally kicking my own behind for being so stupid, when I noticed the door on the passenger side was unlocked. Knowing that by now my friend's dad was on his way, I looked around to see if anyone was watching. I quickly dashed around to the passenger's side and locked the door.

Just as I got back around to the other side of the car, my friend came out to tell me she hadn't been able to get up with her dad.

Don't you know this old girl learned her lesson that day. From then on, as soon as I turned the ignition off, I took the keys out and put them in my purse. I also had myself an extra set of keys made. But Murphy said, "If it can go wrong, it will." Had it not been for Murphy's Law, I really don't think I would have locked my purse and both sets of keys up in my car.

The End
