Silly title but I love this poem it was the first that made me feel like a poet.
Surreal, So Real

I had a dream
some might call it a nightmare.
not me,
What a great dream.

Wild animals ripped a man to shreds
right outside my door,
my cat ran a way
Never to return.
My lizard got sick!
So, I put him in the bathtub
of course.

And after all this,
I was still compelled to sing.
I crooned an chirped my faded teal carol
and stood tall above the crowd on a rock.
There in the distance leaning against a board,
I saw my love.
In the wrong country,
no doubt
But still, my heart turned pink.

He held me
I cried.
We had seven hours,
only minutes in this fantastic reverie.
And yet,
I had the nerve to ask.
"What happens next?"

Sad eyes,
looking down at me.
lovingly he wipes a tear away
he answers...
sternly turning green
his voice reeking of wisdom,

"Have you learned nothing from this dream?"
