A poem I wrote for my oldest son. Dedicated to Drake.
Your heart fills me with
Joy and awe to see the
Best of me in you.

You, with innocence and straightness
Of youth, with shining-white beliefs,
Remind me of what I once was.

And what I long to be.

Your very existence, even before birth,
Permeated my life and brought me
back to me.

Yet -

Separate soul, own mind, individual
Who grows in your own path and
Shows me mine.
