In loving memory of "Icer" my beautiful samoyed who was taken from our lives far too soon
MEMORIES
Memories are like a vast beach of silken sand,
When time permits you may take a walk on the beach,
Feeling the sand between your toes,
Warm and comforting to the touch.
When you bend down to pick up the memory and hold it closer,
It slips through your fingers,
The wind blows gently past, picking up the grains of sand,
And carries them off to a distant part of the beach, and deposits them -
Where you will be sure to come along and feel them next to your skin again.
The tide comes and washes your memories to keep them clean,
Moving them around so that they do not become stagnant,
Ever moving, turning and tossing -
Until just the right one is in place,
For you to come along and feel and see with your heart.
Memories aren't meant to be held on to forever,
This is the beaches job.
Memories come to us when we have time or need an escape from our daily lives,
After they comfort us they must return to the beach,
To be kept clean and whole,
Available for whenever we need to take these walks.
Like the sands of the beach,
Our memories will always be there,
Increasing,
Multiplying with the sands of time.
Until one day we join them,
In the earth to become one,
No longer eluding us, but surrounding us,
With a constant love and assurance,
That love and time do not end.
(In Memory Of Icer)
