a man and his daughter find themselves in a head on collision that changes their lives
Thirteen year old Patricia Sloane and her father, Steve Sloane were closer than any father and daughter could possibly be.  Steve was a homicide detective and Patricia (his adopted daughter) was an A average student.  Since there was no motherly figure, they spend all day together solving murder mysteries.  Patricia was always the first to figure it out and would always put her life on the line to prove it.  Of course then, her father would figure it out and rescue her just on time.  The thing was, Patricia was famous back at the hospital for making it out of the most fatal predicaments and still getting back out there.  Little did everyone know, today, that was going to change on a very hot day in the middle of July.
Jessie Tratis was Patricia's closest friend, even if he was an adult doctor at the hospital.  When he woke up that morning, he couldn't wait to spend his day off at the beach with the two of them.  For months, this had been planned and finally, it was going to happen.  So, when Jessie's alarm clock went of at ten in the morning, he hopped out of bed and headed to the beach.  By the time it was noon, Jessie was losing his patience so, he called Patricia's cell phone to find out where she was.
"Hello," said Patricia in her sweet, caring voice, as she answered the phone, "oh, hi Jessie, how are you?  Calm down, we said we'd be there at noon but, dad got off a little late that's all.  We're on the road, about five miles from the exit to the beach, we'll be there in like, ten minutes."
"Oh, alright," said Jessie, in his annoyed but happy voice, "you better.  The food's getting cold."
"Food," inquired Patricia, not expecting food, "what food?  You weren't supposed to bring any-"
Suddenly, Patricia's voice stopped and Jessie became worried.  "Patricia," he said, in a paniced voice, "Patricia, Trish, are you there?"
Patricia's voice came back on the phone but, it didn't sound the same.  "Dad," she suddenly shouted, panic, in her voice, "look out!!!  Cover your head."
Then, suddenly, there was a scream, the sound of glass breaking and tires squealing.  "Patricia," shouted Jessie, worried beyond belief, "Patricia?"
Sighing, Jessie hung up the phone, packed up his stuff and headed for the hospital where he worked.  When he got there, doctors were rushing everywhere, frantic with all the recent emergencies.  Apparently, there was a head on collision and people were being helicoptered in.  Then he saw it, Steve and Patricia, unconcious and being rushed to another room.  Jessie followed Patricia to take care of her.

The rest is to be continued . . .
