Escape the darkness within by taking a leap of faith.
Near

Bloodied hands grasping at mounds of dirt
Squinting bloodshot eyes in the dark, straining to see
To see some light and love on the path ahead of them
And hope and faith, where can they be?
Falling over my own muck and mire
Running so fast, too fast to think
Trying to escape the clawed beast of my desire
My eyes water from the smoke filled, chocking air
And this time, unlike all the others, there is no escape
For my sins have caught up and my consequences are here
Gasping for breath I stop and panic becomes my friend
I have stopped short and cannot continue
For here I stand on the edge of a cliff- the path’s end
I gawk down and find that underneath me is the raging sea
My fists clench as my heart makes one futile wish
To go back in time and erase the existence of me
But when all is lost, a single light pierces the dark
And a stranger appears beside me on the land
He looks at the fire behind us and at the sea below
The stretches out his arm and offers his hand
I glance back at my death and madness overtakes me
No logic could stop my racing heart
I grip his hand and we leap off into insanity
And for a moment I am overcome by a stab of fear
But then as we soar through the air
I know that my Saviour is near
