A poem about realizing that we are where we are for a reason.
In trenches of destiny the statues vanish,

Revealing to me their temporary embrace,

While I ponder their relevence,

I find I travel at a slowing rate.

Stopping to gaze into the water,

It's whispering wisdom finds a vessel in my soul,

I hear what it is saying,

Relaying a story to be told,

"Your closer than you thought, Your nearing what you've sought",

Bend down to see my reflection,

Fading memories twisted by the sea,

Mirrors ghostly in front of me.

Shake my head, pull my coat taught to keep me warm,

I leave the water and my memories of days gone by,

I give them no matter. The waves of contentment grow,

My confusion shattered.

'Tis only this moment I am given,

Each moment now a miracle of living,

Engaged no more by petty misunderstandings,

I stand eyes open, arms wide, smile broad,

Pick up my bag and down the path I go,

In trenches of destiny,

Heading towards home.
