Please read before reviewing. It's short, I promise!

Before you read further, you should know….

These writings are a work of fiction. While all my fiction is based upon my life, the stories themselves are not true. I appreciate deeply the constructive comments I have received, but a few well-meaning private emails have prompted me to pen this disclaimer.

Because more than a few members have written to me with words of encouragement or advice, I suppose I should take this as a compliment that my writing rings true. And I thank you deeply. However, as indicated on my Bio page, my preferred genre is fiction.

I’ve been trying to string these essays together for some time into a cohesive unit, and felt this would be an ideal workplace for me to see what happens when I try. I'm trying to keep these items in the order that they 'should' be read, although I'm hoping each one could stand alone as an individual essay. That's probably not the case, but I'm keeping them as separate entities for now while I move them around a bit.

Please bear in mind, in spite of the first person narrative, these are fiction.

In reality, I have a very nice life, with a very nice husband,  very nice children, and work at a very supportive company. That kind of reality though, doesn’t always make for very entertaining fiction. I write what I know. I use my experiences as a base, but let the story grow from my imagination. I'm trying to test the waters to see how much a self-hating heroine protagonist with a somewhat shady past can be a sympathetic character to the reader.

My "K.arthsis" writings are indeed based upon fact. Many years ago I let down a friend in need.  I do sometimes feel guilt about that. But the K. character is also a compilation of various people I've known through life who seem to have drawn the short straw when it comes to a peaceful  existence. The character himself seems to be evolving into a symbol of self-shame and guilt, the secret loathings we feel for ourselves, but never share with others.

I do indeed work many hours, and travel way too much. However, it pretty much ends there. Also, "ethical hacking" is just a small part of my job, but it's by far the funnest, so I tend to write about that the most. But please don't write to me asking how to be a hacker, or to get the password of someone, etc. I do have some essays that will be posted with information on network security administration, and I hope you find those entertaining and informative.

Finally, most importantly of all, I do not have any healing, psychic or telepathic abilities. These are simply part of the story. So for those of you who would write to ask questions about this, I’m sorry I cannot assist you. I honestly don’t believe in reality that they exist.

But what a cool story, if they did…

So if  you think you know me, or my company, or my family, think twice. Maybe you've been snooping around my internet history and find this site in my cache. Before you think you are reading a confessional autobiography, please rest assured you are not. And if you should catch a string of a conversation you and I once had, but feel bemused that I’ve changed our setting, or our  dialog, or the outcome, please don’t be angry that I’ve lied, or fool yourself into thinking I'm fantasizing about you.

I haven’t. It’s just a story. Nothing more. Everything I write is fiction.

P.S. In the event you've come across this during an internet search, and wish to read more, you'll need to be a contributing member of Writing.com. These essays are written for an audience of writers, so why not join and share!
