My younger brother who seems determined to follow in my foot-steps. Why? I don't know.
Little Brother
by: A.J. Dru

Dear little brother,
Why do you insist
On following in my
Foot-steps?

Can't you see
That I've been through Hell?
This is no life to lead,
I promise you.

I've changed, grown,
And now I see
What I couldn't see
Before.

Now, when I see you,
I see myself,
Time travel,
Four years back.

You dress the way I did,
Listen to the same music too,
And do some of the things
I hoped you'd never do.

It hurts to know
That it's partly my fault.
Sure, everyone makes their own choices,
But, I fear I've set a bad example.

Now, I'm doing what I can
To set you on the right path
But you're so stubborn, no surprise,
Just like I used to be.

So brother, dear brother,
Please listen to me now.
I'm not who I used to be
And I'm glad, even proud.

I hope you don't have
To learn the hard way
Like I did,
But, sometimes that's the only way.
