A mother always hopes she can give her sons hints for success and lifelong protection.
Wishes for my Boys

This is what I want to give you:
an invisible chain locked growing
stronger every day; tunnel vision
ignited from passions unique, a siren and boot
when you sneak from the path.

This is what I want to show you:
hidden sun gleam behind shrinking mist,
silver in everything you were sure black,
goose wing umbrellas through passing storms.

This is what I want to be for you:
a tattered little blanket slightly frayed
on one end, a glimmering lighthouse
in darkest fog, a door over your shoulder
to which you never lose the key.
