The people of New Orleans are still waitng for help which may never come.
Were you there when the winds blew through?
Were you there when our homes came unglued?
Everything washed out into the street.
Now the neighbors just follow the beat.
Still we wait for relief to come.
The government says "We'll send you some."
People have left to start new lives.
Some have come home, amid our surprise.
Trailers are many and homes are few.
New homes are raised slowly;our trailer's blue.
Living in places where water once was.
We struggle daily to get over the cause.
Time has passed and still we wait.
The water has receded through our front gate.
We look out across to an empty lot.
Is that all there is?
We certainly hope not.
