More or Less

What force resists
the stick of peanut butter
and jelly together,
what causes a hug and
the pulling away?

Hamlet was but prototype
for modern man.
I cannot decide.

What comes next,
is it sarcasm,
irony or escape from
drudgery of responsibility
and obligation?

The sandwich asks
that nagging question.
I won’t eat you - yet.

Everything is a mountain,
and an airplane, speedboat,
blue whale, pinstripe suit
and lobster tail.

How do we put an end
to the horse of our sleeplessness?
We ride our dreams and nightmares
to the cold floor of waking.
