This is a piece I wrote years ago about a force (you identify) that keeps folks down
Lightning streaks, thunder rolls
Children cry, start growing cold
The hunger burns for food and thought
Reason ends, they cast their lot.

Gone are days of old and good
When parents loved you, when they still could
They fed you, protected, taught wrong from right
Teachers they were, providers of light

Now take my hand and let ME lead
I will fulfill your every need
For I ride the storm of chaos, lies, of greed
It's on the violence, hatred and drugs you'll feed
The game is played until the last one has died
Never once asking or knowing why

When all of this time you should have wondered
Why is your life, your soul being plundered
Who stands to gain from your destruction
I cannot tell you, for it's your deduction.
